Give a Child a Great Start!
Your donation to the
Copper Country Early Childhood fund of the
Copper Country Great Start Collaborative can
help children in the Copper Country to be safe,
healthy and ready to succeed.
Here’s what one family
had to say about the importance of their
children’s preschool experience.
“When we signed
up our son for preschool, it was out of
necessity. Mom had just gotten a job that was 4
days a week. It was the best thing we've ever
done for our kids.
The idea of
‘Kindergarten readiness’ is a hot topic, after
the preschool experience my children have had
here, we have no doubt they will be ready.”
The Copper Country
Great Start Collaborative has received a
$100,000 federal grant that will provide a
minimum of 20 preschool scholarships for three
year old children.
The
scholarships will provide quality preschool or
licensed child care for children according to
need.
We must,
however, raise $100,000 in local match money in
order to receive the full grant.
For each dollar
we raise locally, we will receive a dollar of
federal grant money.
The match money
will be used to establish the Copper Country
Early Childhood Fund.
We need your
help.
Every year there are
waiting lists for three year olds who are unable
get into a preschool program because classes are
full, and there is no funding for additional
classes.
There are also
many families who work hard, but earn too much
to be in Head Start, and can’t afford to send
their children to private preschool.
Many of these
families have other struggles as well.
Some may be
dealing with a family illness, or the parents
may be students or single.
Others may have
recently lost one income of a two income family.
The federal grant
money must be used for scholarships for three
year olds.
Your gift to
the Copper Country Early Childhood Fund;
however, could be used to support additional
preschool scholarships, as well as other needs
identified in the Copper Country Great Start
Strategic Plan, including dental health,
physical health and social emotional health
needs.
You can help by giving
the amount that is meaningful for you.
All gifts are
tax deductible.
This spring
during April (the Month of the Young Child), May
and June, we will be asking the Copper Country
to make a commitment to our future.
Together we can
give more of our Copper Country Kids a “Great
Start.”
