BHK Child Development includes a wide variety of
services for children and families. Head Start,
preschool and childcare are the agency's
cornerstone programs, but BHK also offers adult
education and family literacy services, support
for pregnant mothers, family wellness
activities, an AmeriCorps national service
program, and after-school and summer learning
programs for public school children.

Copper Country Autism Awareness Group
This group provides information and assistance
to parents and families of those living with
autism. This may include information on
available resources; efforts to increase general
awareness; sponsorship of autism friendly
events; information on available respite
services; and advocacy efforts for children and
families.
Copper Country Early On: Early On is a program
for children birth to age 3 who have a
disability or developmental delay, or a health
condition that might lead to a developmental

Copper Country Community Mental Health Services
provides an array of services intended to
increase independence, improve quality of life,
and support community integration and inclusion
of the persons served in Baraga, Houghton,
Keweenaw and Ontonagon counties. The CCMH
Institute provides a variety of education,
prevention, and training programs including:
Alzheimer education, adolescent development,
asset building, caregiver education, child
development, community education, depression
education, elder abuse education, infant mental
health, mental health training, parent
education, preschool expulsion prevention,
stress management, substance abuse prevention,
violence prevention, and youth social skill
development.
"Great
Start Regional Resource Center/4C
of the UP" helps parents to find
licensed childcare, supports and trains
childcare providers, and advocates for the
highest quality of childcare for parents,
employers, and the general public throughout the
Upper Peninsula of Michigan.

Keweenaw Bay Indian Community Social Services
provides prevention, protective, foster care,
adoption and juvenile justice services for
members of the Keweenaw Bay Indian Community.
The Keweenaw Family Resource Center
supports,
enriches, and strengthens family lives in the
Keweenaw Peninsula by providing a variety of
programs that focus on families with children
from birth through four years of age.

Michigan Alliance for Families
Provides a Regional Parent Mentor with expertise
in disability and educational issues at each
regional site. Regional Parent Mentors connect
families with the resources they need, provide
information and assistance and mentor parents.
They also host a series of learning
opportunities for parents including:
Individualized Education Programs (IEPS),
Individualized Family Service Plans (IFSPs),
Mediation and facilitated IEPs, Overview of the
IDEA, Transitions, Positive behavioral supports,
Assistive technology, Parent/professional
collaboration and rights and responsibilities.

they are connected to a parent consultant in the
